On a Sunday almost exactly 16 months ago, April 24, 2005, the odometer on my bike ticked over to 77,777.7 miles. Today, another sunday in the 8th month of the year, it has added exactly 11,111.1 miles and is sitting in the driveway showing 88,888.8 miles. At that rate it looks like she's about 16 months away from 100,000. Quite amazing for a little 500cc motorcycle built in '85. Looks like it just might make it.

I was just thinking today about the 1200 mountain miles we put on there in early June.
Al rode her bike to work both nights this weekend. On Friday, we rode to the gym as she finished up her first tank of gas. 93 miles to the gallon. I kid you not. Yeah for 250cc.
I am learning to be a good wife and let her ride off to work on a motorcycle by herself. Always a new perspective.
That is some perspective. I never thought about how disconcerting it might be to let me ride off. I think that would be very hard for me. A female falling off a motorcycle is just too much for me to think about. I'm also secretly glad my son is not very interested in riding motorcycles. It's a relief. I'm afraid that may make me quite a hypocrite.
